First teaser poster for Spike Lee's 'Oldboy'

Despite the uproar from fans of Park Chan-Wook's revered vengeance thriller, Oldboy, the remake is indeed rolling into theaters this fall. The hiring of Spike Lee calmed a good many nerves, and so did casting Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, and Samuel L. Jackson. But questions still remain, and now as the marketing machine kicks into gear, we're receiving the first teaser poster.

The image is a clever way to depict the twenty years in which the lead character, an ordinary ad executive (Brolin), is held in solitary confinement after being kidnapped for mysterious reasons. Just as suddenly, he's set free, embarking on a quest for revenge against whoever perpetrated the crime. The answers he uncovers only lead to more questions, and the outline of a deep conspiracy begins to form.

Oldboy is set to hit theaters on October 11th.
