It looks like things are starting to move fast for Son of Rambow star, Will Poulter. After starring in that surprise indie hit as a child, he's gone on to become one of the more talented young actors around. He was by far the best thing about The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and he'll star opposite Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis in We're the Millers. Now he's landed a major role in Fox's adaptation of YA best-seller, The Maze Runner.
Directed by short-film helmer Wes Ball (Ruin), the story takes place in one of those popular post-apocalyptic settings, and follows Thomas, a young man who wakes up without any memories amongst a community of boys known as Gladers, who are all trapped in an enormous maze. He soon comes to realize that this was all part of his destiny to become a maze runner, and to lead the Gladers to freedom.
It doesn't sound as if Poulter will be playing Thomas, so he'll probably just be one of the many other runners. Either way, this is a major gig that could have franchise potential as there are two more books in James Dashner's series. Hopefully it won't fall flat the way Beautiful Creatures did. [Deadline]
