Annapurna Pictures sizzle reel honors 'Lawless', 'Zero Dark Thirty', 'Spring Breakers', and more

Lawless. Zero Dark Thirty. Spring Breakers. The Master. Killing Them Softly. The Grandmaster. Any studio would kill to have those movies as part of their library now, but they all fall under the umbrella of Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures, which in 2012 established itself as the home for financially risky, creatively challenging pictures. Truth be told, most of them didn't make a whole lot of money during their theatrical runs, but they will all most certainly be remembered long after higher-grossing films have been forgotten. And as this latest sizzle reel from Annapurna suggests, there was a lot about last year worth being happy about.

It's a pretty amazing piece of work, and a must see for fans of really good dramatic movies. Spring Breakers and The Grandmaster debuted last year on the international scene, but we'll be getting them both here before too long. AnnaPurna has a lot to look forward to in 2013, with David O. Russell's untitled Abscam drama starring Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, and Jennifer Lawrence. They've also got Spike Jonze' upcoming sci-fi romance, Her, with Adams and Joaquin Phoenix. Plus, they're producing Bennett Miller's Foxcatcher with Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo. Now if only they'd get crackin' on that Terminator 5 for next year's reel.
