I wasn't too impressed by the first trailer for the magician comedy, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. The jokes mostly fell flat, and the humor which targets how the industry has been taken over by stunt performers like David Blaine and Criss Angel wasn't particularly clever. Whether the film works or not is going to depend a lot on how much you like the cast of Steve Carell, Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde, and Alan Arkin.
The newest U.K. trailer is a marked improvement, shorter and with a much tighter focus. Carell plays the titular stage magician, with Buscemi as his partner Anton Marvelton, who are upstaged by a brash upstart played by Carrey. The only way to get their mojo back is to rediscover the wonder that made them fall in love with magic in the first place. Arkin seems perfectly set up for another scene-stealing bit as Burt's childhood idol, Rance Holloway.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone will appear on March 5th.
