Sure Shots: 'Riddick'; 'Walk of Shame'; Berenice Bejo
* It looks like all the time, effort, and great deal of money Vin Diesel poured into continuing his Chronicles of Riddick franchise has finally paid off. Universal has officially slotted Riddick for release in 2D and IMAX on September 6th 2013. Series director David Twohy joins Diesel in chronicling the infamous Riddick's latest adventure, where he's left to fend for himself on an alien world. His only hope of escaping is to activate a signal beacon, alerting all of his enemies to his whereabouts. Karl Urban returns as Lord Vaako, joined by newcomers Katee Sackhoff, David Bautista, Jordi Molla, Bokeem Woodbine, and Nolan Funk.
* Already sounding like one of the more promising comedies of next year, Walk of Shame has now rounded out the cast joining Elizabeth Banks, James Marsden, and Gillian Jacobs. Bill Burr, Liz Carey, Ken Davitian, Willie Garson, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., Oliver Hudson, Alphonso McAuley, Kevin Nealon, Tig Notaro, Ethan Suplee and Sarah Wright will be joining the production when it gears up shortly, with writer/director Steven Brill(Drillbit Taylor) behind the camera. Banks plays a high-strung wannabe TV anchor who, after a wild night of partying, finds herself stranded in Los Angeles with no phone, car, money, or clothes, and must get across town to an all-important job interview.
* Compared to her male colleagues in The Artist, we haven't heard much about Berenice Bejo making a move into Hollywood. She hasn't been quiet, lining up the next film from Asghar Farhadi(A Separation), as well as The Search from her husband Michael Hazanavicius. She's now set for another leading role in the French film, The Choice. Directed by Michele Placido(Romanzo Criminale), Bejo plays a woman who is unable to conceive a child with her husband. When she becomes pregnant after being the victim of a rape, the couple must then make a terrible choice. Sounds like a tough and challenging role, so consider this one to keep a close watch on. Filming is slated to begin late next year. [Variety]
