New posters for 'Beautiful Creatures', 'Oz: The Great and Powerful', and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters'

The awards season is over, and now it's time to turn our attention forward to next year and some of the most anticipated potential blockbusters studios have to offer. Oh, and one rather terrible-looking thing being dumped on us in January. As the build for these films ramps up, a bunch of new posters have been released.

The first are eight new character posters for Beautiful Creatures, Richard LaGravanese's adaptation of Kami Garcia's supernatural romance series starring Alice Englert and Alden Ehrenreich. Featuring a stellar cast including Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum, and Emma Thompson, the southern Gothic film follows two star-crossed lovers whose budding romance is threatened by dark family secrets.

Because we need to be reminded that Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is coming at us in 3D(!!!!), this new poster has Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton's guns and arrows right in our faces. Hm, sorry, I'm not feelin' it.  This one's directed by Tommy Wirkola, and if you can't figure out what it's about from the title then....well, you deserve to go see Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters on January 25th. Enjoy.

And finally, another vibrant new one-sheet for Sam Raimi's Oz: The Great and Powerful. The Japanese characters actually add something magical to what is already a fantastically lush picture. An origin story and a prelude to L. Frank Baum's classic The Wizard of Oz, James Franco stars as a small-time magician and illusionist who is swept into the magical land and caught up in the schemes of three witches, played by Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, and Mila Kunis. Oz: The Great and Powerful opens on March 8th 2013.
