James Wan has been scaring the crap out of people for a lot of years, and to his credit he's always found new approaches to doing it. As the mastermind behind the Saw franchise he turned our stomachs with gore, but in last year's Insidious he proved to be just as adept with psychological thrills. For his next film he's turning his attention to a "true" tale of terror.
EW has a pair of new photos from The Conjuring, which is thankfully no longer working under the boring title of The Warren Files. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren, who were closely involved in the Amitville Horror case in 1975. This story predates that one, and has the Warrens investigating the Perron family, who claim their Rhode Island home is a gateway for evil spirits. Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor play the Perron parents, while Mackenzie Foy(Renesmee in Breaking Dawn pt. 2) and Joey King(Ramona and Beezus) are their daughters.
The Conjuring will haunt theaters on July 19th 2013.
