Trailer Time: 'Sister', starring Lea Seydoux and Kacey Mottet Klein
French model/actress Lea Seydoux is a star on the rise, not just in her native land but here in America. Unfortunately we've only seen her in fits and starts, taking on supporting roles in Inglorious Basterds, Midnight in Paris, and Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol. That may be about to change, however, with the acclaimed historical drama, Farewell My Queen, set to open here next weekend. She's also receiving some rave reviews for her performance in Sister, the Silver Bear award-winning Swiss drama from Ursula Meier(Home).
In what many are calling Seydoux's most mature role to date, she plays Louise, who drifts through life alongside her younger brother, Simon(Kacey Mottet Klein). Although only 12 years of age, Simon picks up the slack in providing for their little family, taking to robbing and hustling on the idyllic nearby ski resorts. Gillian Anderson turns up as someone who appears to have more than a passing interest in Simon's life, and it isn't long before his scheming sends him down a dangerous path. With gorgeous cinematography from Agnes Godard(35 Shots of Rum), the film has the neo-realistic vibe of The Dardenne Brothers(The Kid with a Bike), and looks to feature similar commentaries on the lower/upper class social divide.
Sister is set to open here on October 12th. Check out the trailer below...
