Joseph Gordon-Levitt's The Dark Knight Rises role revealed? Eh, maybe.

An anonymous source over at Comicbookmovie thinks he has the skinny on exactly who Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing in The Dark Knight Rises. JGL had been rumored to be a part of the film for months, and finally signed on officially just a couple of weeks ago. Nobody knew exactly what his role would be, however. At one point he was rumored to be The Riddler, and there's been some talk that maybe he could be either Robin(yeah right) or be taking over the role of Hugo Strange, which Tom Hardy was once presumed to be. The source seems pretty confident that JGL won't be any of these options, but instead will be Alberto Falcone, the son of former mob boss Carmine Falcone(Tom Wilkinson portrayed him in Batman Begins).

The idea is that Alberto would be returning to Gotham to reclaim the underworld scene vacated by his father when Batman arrived. It's an idea that's got some legs to it, and certainly fits in one of Nolan's recurring themes of familial legacy.  It would also add the potential "boss" figure I've been saying must be included in order to make the appearances of Catwoman and Bane make sense. In the comics, Catwoman and the Falcone family have a unique connection(possible blood ties), and Bane would make for an impressive henchman.

I'm not big on trusting anonymous sources, and Batman news has been particularly spotty over the last year, so we'll just have to wait for more official confirmation on this, but I think it sounds totally plausible.
