Zack Snyder: Bat-Director of Tomorrow?

Batman On Film floated an interesting rumor out there that Warner Bros. was seriously considering Watchmen director Zack Snyder to take over for Christopher Nolan if he decided not to do Batman 3. But with that said, there's no guarantee of Nolan going on beyond the next film, so would WB fall back to their initial contingency plan?

I hope this isn't true. Nolan better come back!

I don't think it would be too bad, but honestly I'll reserve judgement until I see Watchmen, which will be the best gauge of his true talent to date. 300 was a film that underwhelmed me, yet I absolutely loved Dawn of the Dead. If Watchmen is good, I'll have far more confidence that he can tackle a project as big as the Dark Knight.

It's a tad worrisome to hear this, but on the other hand I feel like it could certainly be worse. I have faith that Snyder could pull off the visual feel of the new Batman films, but aside from that I'm just not entirely sure.

Still, this is Nolan's series of movies unmistakeably and I'd really hate to see someone else take the torch from him here.

Besides, after The Dark Knight, I don't know who could possibly direct a movie to top it aside from Nolan himself.
